On Call Hospice RN – 7 on/7 off
Position: On-Call Hospice RN (7 Days On / 7 Days Off)
This on-call role is perfect for an experienced and compassionate RN looking for flexibility while making a profound difference.
Schedule:
- 7 days on / 7 days off rotation
- Monday – Thursday: 5:30 PM – 8:30 AM
- Friday 5:00 PM – Monday 8:30 AM
Competitive Compensation – Get paid for being available to respond, even if no calls occur.
Mileage reimbursement for patient visits – Travel time is covered.
What You’ll Do:
- Be on-call for urgent patient needs, responding promptly to calls and making in-person visits when necessary.
- Provide compassionate nursing care to patients in their homes, ensuring comfort and dignity.
- Assess changes in patient conditions and adjust care plans accordingly.
- Educate families on symptom management and the end-of-life process.
- Collaborate with physicians and the interdisciplinary team to ensure seamless care.
- Document patient interactions, visits, and care plans in compliance with hospice standards.
- Supervise Hospice Aides and LPNs to maintain high-quality care.
What We’re Looking For:
- Active RN license in IL (Required)
- Minimum of 2 years of RN experience (Hospice required)
- Compassionate & responsive – Able to provide reassurance and skilled care during critical moments
- Strong problem-solving skills – Quick-thinking and adaptable in urgent situations
- Excellent communication skills – Ability to support and guide families with empathy
- Reliable transportation & valid driver’s license
